- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Sydney and I are very fortunate to be able to live in such a beautiful place as Carlsbad. As a homegrown product of Southern California I was born, raised, and lived a nice portion of my adult life in the northern part of San Diego County. This includes being born at Tri-City in Oceanside as well as growing up under my Nan's (grandmother's) and Mom's roof in Vista.
My Nan understood the difficulties of being a working single parent firsthand, having to finish raising the last seven of her nine children on her own. Thus, she had the foresight to allow my mom and us kids to live under her roof, allowing for a stable environment to mature in. Along with this stability came the instillment of an old school Vermonter's discipline consisting of: accountability, patience, respect for your elders, and a strong work ethic. She is singlehandedly the most amazing person I have ever known.
I recently earned my associate degree in Liberal Arts with an Area of Emphasis in Social and Behavioral Sciences from MiraCosta College. My current educational goal is to continue taking the classes needed to obtain my bachelors degree in political science. Though at times I do feel slightly behind the curve of my peers, in the sense of a formal education, there is something to be said for the life experiences that can't be procured in class.
I place a high value on accountability, frugality, and a strong work ethic. I'm a workhorse and take a great deal of pride in that, and in any task I'm assigned. I consider myself a slight jack-of-all-trades in regards to the eclectic work experience I've acquired over the years. This includes, but is not limited to: customer service in both the food and retail industry, route delivery driver, military service (O.T.H. discharge), night crews, delivery truck loader and unloader, asphalt, concrete, landscaping, and yard work, etc. I believe I can accomplish just about anything with the proper resources and seat time as I'm a self-motivated individual.
Regardless of the outcome of this election my intentions are to accomplish two goals: create an inception and inspire others. The inception I want to plant in others is that we can use the various forms of social media available to network, share ideas, and unify with each other in electing individuals among us as candidates. This would finally debunk the theory that money is needed to get elected. As far as inspiring others, if my striving for eligibility to get on the ballot for nomination and candidacy of California's 49th congressional district causes others to step out of their comfort zones or breakdown any mental barriers they might have from achieving their dreams, then it was a complete success. This would be especially true if one of those individuals impacts a positive and game changing effect on our future world.
